Palatandaan

You were six when I told you a monster lived in the cupboard under the stairs, and you slept with the landing light on for years.

Ishaan, I'm sorry about the monster.

I made it up because you kept following me and my friends around, and I wanted you to stay downstairs. It worked far better than I meant it to. You slept with the landing light on for six years, and Papa paid the electricity bill and never knew why. You are taller than me now, and braver, and I think you have forgotten all of it. I haven't. Being the older sister means carrying a list of small cruelties nobody else remembers. This is me crossing one off.
